Kure Beach is the place to be this summer to enjoy the perfect balance of charming small-town vibes and upbeat live music performances. Whether you’re kicking back on a picnic blanket at the park or enjoying musicians while dining al fresco at a locally owned restaurant, the area is filled with places where music comes to life alongside spectacular ocean views.
Groove by the Sea
The free Boogie in the Park Concert Series, taking place at Ocean Front Park & Pavilion, is in full swing. Come visit the town’s largest public green space every other Sunday from 5-7 p.m. for a wide variety of tunes ranging from country to reggae. Families with kids of all ages can bring a picnic blanket and lounge chairs and let loose while enjoying live music seaside. The little ones can even play on the playground (or something like this – just trying to make it known there’s more for kids to do in case they get bored). Make sure to jot down that there are no concerts the weekends of July Fourth or Labor Day.
Beginning July 8 and continuing every other week through Sept. 23, Free Summer Concerts at Fort Fisher offer family-friendly fun at Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area on the second and fourth Friday of each month. Get comfy on your blanket or chairs and breathe in the fresh air as you enjoy live musical performances across a variety of genres.
Bite into a delicious Carolina BBQ sandwich or dig into a Calabash-style seafood platter at Big Daddy’s Restaurant while listening to local musicians on the outdoor deck every Friday and Saturday. Music starts at 6:30 p.m., and visitors can find out who is playing by checking Big Daddy’s Facebook.
Just Down the Beach
For even more live music, head to neighboring Carolina Beach. Walk along the Carolina Beach Boardwalk to watch fireworks light up the sky and hear live music fill the air during Fireworks by the Sea & Boardwalk Blast. This beloved annual tradition kicks off the Friday before Memorial Day and continues every Thursday evening through summer until the final show the Friday before Labor Day.
While you’re in town, sit down for a delicious oceanfront meal or drink at Ocean Grill & Tiki Bar and enjoy their Summer Tiki Shows every Thursday evening from June 2 to Aug. 25 featuring live music ranging from country to rock. SeaWitch Café & Tiki Bar also offers live music by the sea with their Outdoor Music Concert series. For more live music and summer concerts, check out all the happenings in nearby Carolina Beach.
Music is in the air at Kure Beach, and there is nothing better to groove to than live performances. Be sure to include live music in your itinerary when planning your summer escape to the North Carolina coast.
