About Kure Beach
A Naturally Beautiful Small-Town Beach with Big-Time Attractions
Kure Beach is a little bit further down the beach, at the southern tip of Pleasure Island. There's always plenty to do around here - you can cast a line from the 700-foot long fishing pier, or explore nearby Fort Fisher State Historic Site, the last stronghold of the Confederacy and site of the largest land-sea battle of the Civil War. Gaze in awe at the 200,000+ gallon saltwater tank at the award-winning North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, or hike along the six-mile stretch of undeveloped beach in the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area.
Discover the Ocean Front Park featuring a playground with a pirate ship, Pavilion for special events and storytime with the kids, and bench swings offering scenic seaside views. Even hop a ferry for a breathtaking view on a trip to the mainland.
